Students often struggle or avoid these questions so it is worth practising and learning how to approach them.
Both Papers 1 and 2 (Foundation and Higher) in GCSE Statistics (Edexcel 9-1) will include an extended response question. They are usually worth 5 or 6 marks.
Key Tips for GCSE Statistics Extended Response Questions
Use the marks available for the question as a guide for how many points you need to make in your answer.
If the question is worth 6 marks, you need to make 6 separate points.
Use the content of the question to structure your answer.
Cover all elements of the question.
Fully explain your point.
Keep in mind the context of the question.
