Revision Tip 3: Pomodoro Technique

Updated: Apr 10, 2025

This Revision Tip uses the Pomodoro Technique where tasks and time are split into manageable chunks. Each 'chunk' of revision lasts for 25 minutes and is called a Pomodoro.

A girl sat on a timer with a laptop, along with bullet point tips of how to apply the Pomodoro Technique

This a great technique to increase your focus and concentration, meaning that you get more done in less time! It's also appealing as you only ever work for 25 minutes and know that a break is never very long away.

You can use the Pomodoro Technique in conjunction with other revision approaches and it can help in planning your revision. For example, you could use the list of topics you categorised using the traffic light system in Revision Tip 2 as the 25 minute tasks.

There is also an easy to use Pomodoro Timer app available which automatically times your tasks, short breaks and long breaks. You can even tailor the lengths for each if desired. https://pomofocus.io/app
